ROBERT MURRAY M’CHEYNE – The youngest child of the family, Robert M’Cheyne was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, May 21, 1813. His father was Adam M’Cheyne. writer to the Signet. At the age of four years, he taught himself to name and to write the Greek alphabet, while recovering from an illness. In October, 1821, he entered high school; November, 1827, the University of Edinburgh, and the winter of 1831, he commenced his studies in the Divinity Hall. The death of his eldest brother David, made a deep impression upon him.
