Sorry, this has nothing at all to do with theology.
I'm a Tolkien fan, I own the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings movies and besides the Bible the LOTR series are the only books I've ever read more than once. I've been looking at the various hints coming across the wire for awhile now and it looks like Peter Jackson is now planning two movies based upon "The Hobbit". I really hope he does get to film it even if it is quite a way off.
Variety.com – MGM is set to generate $500 mil a year
As for "The Hobbit," Sloan confirmed that MGM was in advanced talks with Peter Jackson to make two movies based on JRR Tolkein's "prequel" to "The Lord of the Rings."
The first would be a direct adaptation of "The Hobbit," and the second would be drawn from "footnotes and source material connecting 'The Hobbit' with 'Lord of the Rings,' " he explained.
Sloan did not reveal when these projects might be ready to start shoot-ing. An MGM spokesman emphasized that negotiations with Jackson are still in progress, and that production isn't likely until 2008 or even 2009.
I'll be patient. If Peter Jackson could pull it off well it will be worth it. However if he peters out (sorry I had to) it just won't be worth my money to go see it.
All of my family liked the LOTR movies so we'll see what happens.
