Shibboleth is finally here!

A few years ago Logos Bible Software developed an app for their design & editorial department to more easily input the Biblical languages into their databases. This app was called Shibboleth. I remember reading the blog post, seeing the app, & going, “This is something I could really use!”. I’m fairly new to the Biblical languages (& Logos has really allowed me to take off in the learning of them), & any app that would enable me to type more easily in the Biblical languages would be a nice addition to my Bible software. So I emailed Bob & asked him if he’d release Shibboleth to us Logos users. At the time he said no, that it was only for employees of Logos Bible Software. My next stop was the job offering page to see if the design & editorial department had a job opening. Unfortunately, they didn’t. 🙂

Well, recently Logos decided to update Shibboleth under Microsoft’s new .NET Framework 3.0 for Windows XP & Vista. The look & feel of it became incredibly nice & streamlined.

That’s not all! Logos has also finally released this new version of Shibboleth to use users as a free download! I recently downloaded my copy & am really enjoying it! I can easily type in any of the Biblical languages, export to unicode & all of Logos’ fonts, & copy/paste to & from the app easily. I’ve found it a valuable addition to my Libronix library, something I have needed for years.

Give it a free download at http://logos.com/shibboleth today. You’ll see it’s a nice tool for typing in the Biblical languages.

Hengstenberg on the Psalms, Vol. 2

Thanks to a long and relatively quiet Christmas vacation, I have completed a PBB resource of E.W. Hengstenberg’s Commentary on the Psalms, Vol. 2. You can find it for downloading at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!

Volume 2 covers Psalms 35-78.

Volume 3 contains the rest of the Psalms and appendices. It’s about 600 pages, so without the benefit of time off, this one will take some time to prepare.

Grace,
Bill

Nathan Parker Joins Stilltruth.com

Hello everyone!

I’m Nathan Parker, & I’m excited to announce I have joined Stilltruth.com as one of its bloggers due to a recent invitation from John Norman. I’m happy to be here & can’t wait to begin blogging about my favorite Bible software.

You’ve probably seen me elsewhere. I’m the same person who has posted to the Logos Newsgroups, the Accordance Forums, the WORDsearch Discussion Groups, & the Biblesoft Groups. I’m also the one who started the WORDsearch Yahoo! Group for sharing files with other WORDsearch users, & yes, I’m also a member of Ruthie’s WORDsearch Yahoo! Group for Bible-related discussions as well. Most of you also recognize me as WeatherBug’s Backyard Sr. Anchor for my city & have probably seen, listened to, or read reports of mine on the WeatherBug Backyard Blog (http://backyard.weatherbug.com). The only person I’m not is the movie star Nathan Parker (unless you count being a video weather reporter one). 🙂

I hope to periodically blog as I find the time (I’m hoping for either once a week or once every other week), & I’ll be blogging here more & viewing the discussion groups less. I’ve gotten to the point where I have so many discussion groups to attend I don’t have time to constantly view them all. I’m limiting myself to only posting to them as I need to when I have questions or comments.
