Science is the best that humans can do by themselves to find truth. Its findings are limited, provisional, incomplete, and unenlightened by the Gospel, but they are the best we’ve done of our own to create a merit-based, objective search for truth. And science is certainly in a state of ferment; the twentieth century saw vast changes in every field of science, and the pace continues even now. There is something new and marvelous every day, for there are more discoveries going on than there are celebrities going into rehabilitation.
The motherly spiders are whip spiders, spiders in which two of their legs have turned into sensory organs. From the article, “Mothers of both species nurtured their young. Often, the mama whip spider would sit in the middle of her offspring and slowly stroke their bodies and whips with her own feelers… For P. marginemaculatus, the stroking was mutual, with the three-week-olds also whip-caressing their moms and one another.”
