On Salvation (Part 3)

People of the earth, hear the word of the Lord – the Creator of heaven and earth.

I, the Lord, the God of Israel, will never abandon the poor and needy.

My Servant will bring justice to all who have been wronged. He will not stop until justice prevails throughout the earth. Thru my Servant, I will restore the people of Israel to me. My Servant will be a light to the gentiles and bring my salvation to all of the earth.

My Servant will be a symbol of my covenant with you, Israel. I have ransomed you, Jacob’s descendants, and you are mine. I chose you to know and believe in me; that I am the only God. No one can take anything from my hand, or undo what I have done. You, Israel, belong to me. I will blot out your sins for my sake, and will never recall them; I do this to honor my word, not because you deserve it. So, return to me for I have paid the price for your sins. Do not question what I have done or why; just repent and return to me.

In my coming salvation, I will do something new. I will make the wasteland flourish. I will restore the ruins of Judah and Jerusalem. I will bring righteousness to the land in my salvation. I have made this earth to be lived in, for it is good. No one will go hungry or thirsty again. No longer will anyone come to bring destruction and death upon you, but only peace will remain. The barren lands will become like Eden – my paradise. My salvation is mercy and justice and righteousness, and it will last forever.

I have sworn by my own name; I have spoken the truth, and I will never go back on my word. Every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess allegiance to me. Thru me and because of me, all the generations of Israel will be justified. Give me your praise; I will bring to pass everything that I say.

You foreigners, who are not Israel; if you commit yourself to me, trust in my promise, and serve and love me – you too will I bring to my holy mountain. My promises are for all who will trust, honor, and follow me.

(Isaiah – paraphrased out of the New Living Translation)
