I have created a PBB resource of E.W. Hengstenberg’s The Revelation of St. John Expounded for Those who Search the Scriptures, Vol. 1. You can download it at the link below.
Hengstenberg adopts a postmillennial and historicist interpretation of the book. He views Revelation as predicting important events in the history of the church from its beginning to the consummation. This, of course, puts him outside the majority opinion of today’s evangelical commentators, but his treatment takes seriously the original historical context in which the book was written. Even if you do not agree with his approach, you can learn a lot from his grasp of both Old and New Testament passages, which he weaves into the discussion all throughout the book.
