I heard a sermon today from a non-pastor. In fact, this gentleman used to be in marketing. He was evaluating the impact of the digital age on mankind. He suggested that the miracle of cell phones and text messaging and all of these type of digital age benefits combine to give us the ability to empathize with all of the people across the world that suffer in any way, shape, or form. But that it also gives us the ability to be disconnected from real life implications of those disasters. And as a side affect, seeing such large scale disasters desensitizes us to the smaller scale issues near home.
Have you been desensitized? Do you see the injustice that exists in your town? How about your work place? Do you try to do anything to change it? Or have you been worn down to the point where you don’t try to correct injustice any more?
