Adding a PBB Resource

Step 1 : Upload the File with Web File Manager (WebFM)
Inside of WebFM, there is a directory structure that starts at /webfm/public/pbb. Underneath this directory is where the Author directories are created. And underneath the Author directories is where the pbb files are uploaded. This process has not changed any, but this process is where some information comes from to be used later. The information that needs to be remembered from this step is the name of the Author directory and the file name of the resource.

Ex, for A.T. Robertsons Word Pictures in the New Testament the information to remember is:

ATRobertson/Word Pictures in the New Testament.lbxoeb

Step 2 : Convert the name into a URL friendly name
This is the most specific step. This is the step that creates the name that matches what the PBB Updater application needs to be able to see the information. There is a list of characters that, if found in the name of the resource, will be removed. Additionally, the extension is always removed (ex, .lbxoeb). The characters that are removed from the name are:

‘ (single quote)
(space)
– (minus / dash)
, (comma)
; (semi-colon)
: (colon)
& (ampersand)
( (left parentheses)
) (right parentheses)
[ (left bracket)
] (right bracket)
{ (left squiggly bracket)
} (right squiggly bracket)
. (period)

So, following the example from step 1 – the name to remember is now:

ATRobertson/WordPicturesintheNewTestament

Step 3 : Create the Book Page for the Author Information
If the book page for the author information has not yet been created (ie, you are adding a resource for an author that is new to this site), then a book page needs to be created. This is started by clicking “Create Content” and then “Book Page.”

The information that I try to fill in on this new page is as follows (using A T Robertson as our example).

  • For Title and Topics, insert the Author Name (Archibald Thomas Robertson).
  • For Body, insert some information about the author (I typically get this from Wikipedia, Logos, or Google search). Also, don’t forget to put at the bottom a link to the page you found the information; give credit to whom credit is due.
  • For Attached Images, the source for the Body will typically have an image. On their page, right-click the image and save it to your computer. Then you can choose that image to be uploaded for the attached images. (It’s nice to see something.)
  • For WebFM Attachments, please don’t attach anything to the Author page – as the resources could change frequently. And the resource page links will be showing up on this page. Thus WebFM attachment links would just double / duplicate the links.
  • For URL path settings, uncheck the Automatic alias and make the entry: book-page/libronix-pbb-files/<AuthorName from WebFM directory> (book-page/libronix-pbb-files/ATRobertson)

Click Save. And then click Edit.

  • For Book Outline, select the book Libronix PBB Files.

Click Save.

Step 4 : Create the Book Page for the Resource Information
To create the resource information page, first navigate to the Author information page. At the bottom of that page, click “Add Child.”

The information that I try to fill in on this new page is as follows (using A T Robertson’s Word Pictures in the New Testament as our example).

  • For Title, insert the Resource Name (Word Pictures in the New Testament).
  • For Topics, insert PBB. Also, if you wish the PBB Alert to send add “, PBB Alert” after the PBB.
  • For Body, insert some information about the resource (I typically get this from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Logos, or Google search). Also, don’t forget to put at the bottom a link to the page you found the information; give credit to whom credit is due.
  • For Attached Images, the source for the Body will typically have an image of the resource. On their page, right-click the image and save it to your computer. Then you can choose that image to be uploaded for the attached images. (It’s nice to see something.)
  • For WebFM Attachments, browse the the resource you added in Step 1. Right-click on it and click “Attach to Node.”
  • For URL path settings, uncheck the Automatic alias and make the entry: book-page/libronix-pbb-files/<AuthorName from WebFM directory>/<Modified ResourceName from Step 2> (book-page/libronix-pbb-files/ATRobertson/WordPicturesInTheNewTestament)

Click Save.

You have now not only uploaded your resource, but you have also added the book pages necessary to make the Books & Series work and the PBB Updater work.
