Scene 6: DVQ’s Laboratory

DVQ’s lab has been decorated with a Christmas tree The children enter and sit while DVQ pulls out a Bible.

DVQ : And now I would like to read you all one of my favorite parts of the Bible. (Reads Matthew 1:18-2:12 ) The gifts that the wise men gave to Jesus are nothing in comparison to the gift that God gave to them and to all of us when he sent his Son, Jesus Christ to save us from our sin!

Scene 5: The Stable

DVQ and Harold are standing beside a stable watching as Mary and Joseph are watching a baby sleep in a manger.

DVQ: Harold look! Over there by the shepherds in that field! Look at all the angels. Hey Harold, that angel looks just like you! And Hark! The Harold Angel Sings!
Harold : I know Doc, it’s amazing. Here come the shepherds now.

The shepherds approach down the main aisle coming from the back and cautiously approach Mary Joseph and the baby Jesus. All three shepherds look into the manger and then back away in awe.

Shepherd1: It’s him! It’s really him!
Shepherd2: It’s just like the angel said!
Joseph: Please, excuse me but my wife has only just given birth, but how did you know we were here? What angel appeared to you? What did he say?
Shepherd3: Just a short time ago we were settling in for the night watching over our sheep when quite suddenly out of nowhere an angel of the Lord was standing right in front of us.
Shepherd2: I don’t mind telling you it sure scared me.
Shepherd1: But the angel told us not to be afraid because today, right here in the city of David a Savior has been born for us: Christ the Lord!
Shepherd3: And he gave us a sign to know who it was, he said the baby would be wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. And would you look at that (motioning to the baby) a baby boy wrapped in cloths and laying in a manger of all places.

Scene 4: Annunciation

A young girl is sweeping the floor as DVQ and Harold look on. Suddenly an angel appears and calls to her.

Gabriel: Greetings favored one! The Lord is with you.
Mary: (drops her broom in fear and stares at the angel in wonder) What do you mean?
Gabriel: “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”
Mary: How can this be since I am a virgin?
Gabriel: The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most high will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God. And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. For nothing will be impossible with God.
Mary: Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.

The angel leaves as Mary picks up her broom and looks up to heaven.

DVQ: It can’t be! It just can’t be! It’s true? All of it’s true? I must see more! (punches the button on the blender again.)
