Scripture Sunday: Romans 1:20

Romans 1:17–3:21—Condemnation. The longest section in today’s reading is on the subject of condemnation. •Cause of condemnation: wicked living in willful rejection of God. •Consequences of condemnation: in summary they are abandoned by God (1:24, 25, 28), and they are sentenced to “tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that doeth evil” (2:9). •Court in condemnation: the fidelity of the court (“according to truth” [2:2]); the fairness of the court (“render to every man according to his deeds” [2:6] and “there is no respect [prejudice] of persons with God” [2:11]). •Crowd for condemnation: all persons are condemned, both Jews and Gentiles, for “there is none righteous, no, not one” (3:11). –Butler’s Daily Bible Reading Great Devotional from Adrian Rogers BIBLE MEDITATION: “Upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18 DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Any great church is built on these four things that begin with the letter B.
