Father, Shield Them When They Turn

This entry is part 13 of 30 in the series Praying For The Prodigal

Glorious Father, when people are battling difficulties that have been birthed through their own immoralities, please help them realize that when they turn to make You their “dwelling place,” You will often intervene to shield them from the consequences of their sins (Psalm 91:9-10). Consequences are the unavoidable result of every action.  But they can also be unbearable reminders, and in some cases, barriers to hearing God’s voice. When King David publicly sinned, God made the consequences public.  When Saul of Tarsus sinned, God swept away the consequences and set his new apostle up for the difficult but glorious task of Empire wide evangelism. We cannot always know what God’s plans are, but we can trust him. As we cry out for the prodigals to make God their refuge, let us also cry that he will choose to deliver them from all the evil that would threaten to come against them. “For you have made the Lord, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent.” (Psalm 91:9–10, NASB95)
