When Was the Bible Really Written?

Found an interesting article that suggests oldest written quotes from the Bible can be found on a piece of pottery Carbon dated to c1000BC... I personally don't put a lot of stock in carbon dating, but we should be able to validate this via other methods such a layer the pot was found in, material type, etc.... Here is link and short quote:

"By decoding the inscription on a 3,000-year-old piece of pottery, an Israeli professor has concluded that parts of the bible were written hundreds of years earlier than suspected.

The pottery shard was discovered at excavations at Khirbet Qeiyafa near the Elah valley in Israel -- about 18 miles west of Jerusalem. Carbon-dating places it in the 10th century BC, making the shard about 1,000 years older than the Dead Sea scrolls.

Professor Gershon Galil of the University of Haifa deciphered the ancient writing, basing his interpretation on the use of verbs and content particular to the Hebrewi language.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Whew! Sorry I haven't posted in a while guys. I hope I don't seem like the dissident church member that only posts on Christmasi and Easter, but I've been so swamped with moving to Georgia back in October, settling in, and now that I'm admin over the WeatherBug Blog, they've been working me over there! I've got plenty of suggestions for posting here, I just need more time to sit down and do it. I know they're becoming almost as rare as gems, and my own personal blog has been almost as bare as Mother Hubbard's cupboard. Maybe one of my New Year's Resolutions should be more blogging. Anyway, here's my Christmas message to all of you!

During the hustle and bustle of this Christmas season, we mustn't forget the true Reason for the Season. It's a gift not wrapped in gold foil, but wrapped in swaddling clothes. A gift not laid under a tree, but laid in a manger and later nailed to a tree. A gift not purchased with silver or gold, but purchased with blood. May we all remember who on this night was born, the precious Lamb of God, the Savior of the World. Here's how the His coming happened:

Jesus’ Birth in Bethlehem
1 Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.
2 This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.
3 And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,
5 in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.
6 While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.

Libronix 3.0g Available and Other News

For those still using Libronixi 3.0, Logos has released a final update. (This actually came out about the same time Logos 4.0 did, but I was not paying attention. Fortunately someone in my Bible Study brought it to my attention.) I am guessing it will be a necessary update for those wishing to move the remaining data from 3.0 to 4.0 when the features are made available in 2010... The link can be found here:

In other news, it looks like Nelson wil be producing new versions of their eBible line after all... Good to know there is still 3rd party support...

Oh, I have suspended development of my Divided Kingdom Timelinesi pending the Logos 4.0 updates due in 2Q 2010... (I'm hoping my hyperlinks will port...) I may upload any I have already done but havn't posted yet in the mean time...

God Bless and Merry Christmasi,
