PBB Updater v1.2 (old version)

I updated the title of this article to make it clear that this is for those who wish to run v1.2. Please read all comments for this version as there are a number of changes and fixes to apply after the fact. After v2.1 is out and stable I will be removing v1.2.

The entries on the PBBi_Updater have fallen off the radar and every now and again we get new visitors here that would like some of these PBBs. There are a couple ways that you can use the PBB resource (presuming you have the PBB reader key).

1. Download each file you want independantly and place them into the Resource folder (PROGRAM FILES\Libronixi DLS\Resources)

2. Install the PBB_Updater, pick which resources you want, and click Download

Personally I recommend the PBB_Updater method - as I find it to be much easier (and I built it). At this point in time, there are a couple things to do to use it. First is to install it, and second update the configuration file to tell your client machine of a change on the servers.

Coming very soon is the update to the PBB_Updater that will take care of these things - along with fix some date issues we've had, and some new features as well. Stay tuned to here more about that!

Is it possible to change the resource location? I keep my resources on another disk to save hard drive space.

In the pbb updater there is an arrow in the bottom right corner. Click that and select update resource location.

Alright. I just found the site today and I started making my way through, downloading them individually and then...and THEN...I found this nifty little tool, and needless to say I was flabbergasted at the amount of books available. Again...unbelievable.

I just installed VISTA Ultimate in 32 Bit Mode
I can not get the PBBi UPDATER to work... says no updates?
I didn't bother coping PBBs over to new computer because I thought I could update.

When I try to download the PBB Updater to try a new install
My Explorier simply goes to another page and does not download.

Would you please comment on VISTA Compatability and Send Via E-mail the Updater

This tool seem to be wonderful.

I tried to download it from my Vista machine and then also from a XP machine without any luck. I also tried to download it via DAP and Orbit also without luck.

I manually however downloaded approx 20 or so PBBi's without problems. The only other file that gave problems were Thomas Watson's Body of Divinity.

If you can give some support regarding this matter I would be very glad.

I click on PBBi Updater v1.2.0 on this page, and it just takes me to this page. No download.

I'm confused now filops. I click that link and am offered a download. I think perhaps it is your browser that is misleading you.
What Os and browser are you using? I am on Winxp with Firefox 3.x and have no issues. No issues with IE 7 either.

I have used both FF 3.0.7 and IE8, and both simply bounce me to this page. I just rebooted.

I just retried with FF, IE8, Safari, and Google Chrome.

What happens: I left-click, and am bounced to the page above. There is no offer of a download.

Am I doing it wrong? I tried right-click and "Save as," but that doesn't give me the file.

Ok, we're going to figure this out.
But first off You need to understand that the link you keep posting: is http://www.stilltruth.com/webfm_send/1359 which is the file link for the PBBi updater program you're trying to download. It works on my system just fine. In other words I click it and I get the file.

I can only conclude that something on your system is blocking that file from being downloaded and that somehow you're getting a redirect to some page you keep mentioning but which I can't see.

The only work around I can imagine is to try the file through another location.
Try downloading the file from it's sourceforge page:
http://pbbupdater.sourceforge.net/

Please let me know how it turns out.

First, I tried it from work - different pc, different network, different installation of FF. Same result. Just took me to the page I "keep posting." No download offer.

So I went home and eventually went to the last link you gave. I DLed it. Totally different interface, and my only prob now is (probably) not knowing how it works. Evidently you can only select one at a time. Now, I selected several, hit the Download button, opened Logos, and they're not there. So presumably I have to find and read the instr's, which Iwill.

Should work without many instructions. The only GOTCHA that I know of is that it won't download while Libronixi is running.

I updated (downloaded) the latest PBBi updater, installed and ran it and got an Unhandled exception error at the end of the scan. I can send you the details of the error if you would like - but for now - the first box says: Cannot perform '<' operation on System.DateTime and System.String.

Big fan of your work - sorry about the complications.

I transferred all my resources to my new PC with Vista. I downloaded pbb updater v.1.2, an error window would come up with a debugger issue??? So, I chose to unistal and install v.2 from the sourceforge website.Wow, it looks much different, with added tabs. Question/problem -Why isn't the available resources not in sync with the installed resources tab?Why didn't it pick up some of my already installed resources? Also, why on the available resources tab, it just lists the resources without all the category check boxes in the prior version (v.1.2), i.e., annotations box, timelines box, PBBi's with individual authors boxes, etc.

OK - Forget my ERROR MSG .
I don't know if this is the problem with downloading but the LINK to Version 1.2 is the ONE I keep finding and it would not work in VISTA...
I found your link to SOURCFORGE and downloaded version 2 - it works well... I had no idea version 2 was out even though I come to this site on a regular BASIS. This sould have Been Advertised in Large Print on the Entry page. How long has this been released?????????????

SUGGEST you GET RID of any link to VERSION 1.2 and Place an easy to find PBBi Ver2 Updater link to your progam file and one to SourceForge Download site on your Truith is Still Truith Site so it will be easy to find..

Sorry folks; haven't been around for a while. This new year has been full of "opportunites" and not so much on the time. PBBUpdater had not been published yet - because it isn't really fully debugged yet, and it is still missing a little bit of functionality that is in v1.2. But, that said, most of the functionality is there and it works - mostly.

The comment about check boxes is correct; they don't exist anymore (currently). In the current v2 beta there is select one at a time - or download all. I typically use download all, and there were comments that I was trying to address with the other way (one at a time) - that being complete control and more information. Of course, the more information part is supported but not yet implemented. Hopefully I will soon have time to complete some ISBN lookup functionality.

If you are having issues with v2, may I request that you logged them in the sourceforge issues tracker? Also, if there are any C# developers out there interested in getting involved and picking up my slack, feel free to hook up on sourceforge and I'll get you connected up to the project.

Again, sorry for the lack of time since the Christmasi/New Year's update.

Oh yeah, regarding the resource location - I don't appear to have the ability to change that built into the program yet. But I see on my hard drive (C:\Program Files\StillTruth.com\PBB Updater\mySettings.xml) and it appears to still have the "resourceLocation" setting in it. I really can't remember if it is working - but you can try to add your specific location in that file if you want to try a custom location. Built-in supported locations are:

1. (PROGRAM FILES)\Libronixi DLS\Resources
2. (USERS MY DOCS)\Libronix Resources

Underneath either of these directories, the program will create the PBB directory and its organized structure underneath.

Could I find out which version of PBBi updater and operating system you are running and information on how your files are laid out? I "removed" (renamed) all my directories so I would have a pristine setup with no files installed and I do not receive any errors.

Now, I did just try to run this using Mono on Linuxi and sadly it didn't work. I will try to debug Linux very soon also.
