PBB Updater - Next Version Thoughts?
So, it has been quite a while now since the announcement of Logos v4 and a new model for personal books. The personal book capability itself has been out for a while now too. I still haven't seen anything for the distribution of personal books between the end user community. What I personally have not liked about the new model is there not being a way to distribute compiled books. I personally don't want to go through all of the work of downloading DOCX files, creating a personal book, looking up book information and cover image, attaching the DOCX and then compiling - more work than I feel like doing.
So tonight I finally got the drive going to see what I can do to automate this process. If it was doable, its worth my time to automate the process (cause coding is fun). So far I have been able to determine how to create the personal book in Logos, but have not yet compiled. Compiling may or may not be possible - I need to have another couple nights to play around and see what happens. But even if I cannot automatically compile, in my mind the auto creation of the books with all the information would be close enough to start working on this project again.
My question to you all.... Is that enough for you? Would an updated PBB Updater be worth it to you if it could only get as far as having a book ready to compile and then you would manually have to compile the books yourself?
If it is enough, what did you like and what didn't you like about the previous PBB Updater? What would the perfect PBB Updater look like to you?
I look forward to hearing from you all, to see what interest might still exist for this tool. That said, I don't know how long this would actually last. I just read a blog post from Logos developers saying that there would be no API for automatically creating PBB books - and yet I'm 3/4 of the way there right now. So, did the developer mean that they were not going to publish how to use the API? Or did he mean that they were going to make the API private and unusable by the public?
I know Mr Pritchett reads here every now and again, so if he reads this I would love to hear some official feedback on this set of questions. My hope is that what works now will not be taken away, as Logos v4 is (in my mind) once again missing the part of the market that StillTruth.com filled the gap on with PBBs. And I really want to see what can be done to bring this market back to a thriving share of books between the users.

I would love an updated PBB updater, even if I had to compile the personal books myself. Perhaps there is an alternative file sharing method that would work without having to code.
Dropbox shared (or public) folders comes to mind. Although, we need to be careful that others can't delete files and have it sync across everyone's share. There are probably some other good options out there too. As long as we have a central repository for the files and someone willing to approve them for quality before adding them, I'd be extremely pleased.
Thanks for the update!
Yes, I would love a new PBB updater. Having never created a PBB myself, I would need directions on compiling the books. Just yesterday I was missing many of the books I had on Logos 3.

“Worship is the submission of all of our nature to God. It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness, nourishment of mind by His truth, purifying of imagination by His beauty, opening of the heart to His love, and submission of will to His purpose. And all this gathered up in adoration is the greatest of human expressions of which we are capable.”

I really hope it's possible to automate the compilation step, as I plan to add the 3500+ HDM files (Holiness Data Ministy) to my library.
