Do you Believe in the Devil?

Calvin: Do you believe in the devil? You know, a supreme evil being dedicated to the temptation, corruption, and destruction of man?
Hobbes: I'm not sure man needs the help.
Calvin: You just can't talk to animals about these things.

RE a supreme evil being
"a supreme evil being"
Nope, I would not believe in that. The deceiver is far from a supreme being.
Well when you put it that way...
I guess not in terms of supreme over all things. And let's face it Waterson wasn't and isn't a theologian to my knowledge. But this has always been one of my favorite Calvin Comics - both because it raises the question which so many North American Christians inherently doubt (Satan is real) and simultaneously points a rather bony finger at the depravity of man.
RE: Calvin Cartoon
Understood Tom, and it is a good comic. :)
