logos

Have you seen Logos 4 yet? I have...

Yes, I too was one of the top secret Logos 4 testers... Logos has had a major facelift and reworking of the internal engine that has brought it into the 21st Century...

The GUI is much cleaner... There is now a unified home screen that pulls information both locally and from the internet to create an environment that just tempts you to do a study on the VERY interesting topics that it brings up...

Speaking of the internet, this version is much more internet centric than we have seen in the past... You will need internet access and go through creating an account, but you will never need to worry about losing your books, as they will always be "in the cloud" if you need them... Plus, look for iPhone support because of this new focus...

I will say this version is a work in progress, but don't let that discourage you... Libronix 3.x can co-exist with Logos 4.0, though you will need a few extra Gigs to store the new Logos 4.0 formatted resources... Not every feature in 3.x is in 4.0, but that does not mean it may not be added later... Logos is one of the most responsive companies I've ever dealt with with user comments are involved...

Lets talk a bit about requirements... I found you need at least 10-15 Gigs free on your Hard Drive, a decent processor (the slowest I use is a 1.6Mhz Atom with Hyper-Threading), and a High Speed speed internet connection to fully take advantage of features... I used this on Windows XP, Vista, and 7... Mac support is coming too! I plan to document a upgrade from Libronix 3.x at some point in the future, and will include times involved... (I want to do this on a "clean" system with a "Final" copy to be fair in my review)

Looking for Jack Hayford Lifeworks collection...

It's been a disappointing night... Been looking to complete my collection of Nelson Lifeworks collections with Jack Hayford, only to not be able to find it anywhere, including the Nelson site... And when I think, I'll go to the Logos site, it seems to be down... :(

So, has anyone bought this collection? Any idea where I could find it?

Oh, seems like 2010 Preacher Sourcebook is the only new Libronix product Nelson is planning next year, and the availablity of their eBible products seems to be shrinking fast... Guess that means no more box sets from Nelson either... :(

Just a little over a week till Logos is the sole source for Libronix...

Logos Ending All Distribution and Reseller Relationships

Just received word via DiscountBible.com that as of October 31st, 2009, Logos will be transitioning out of all of their distribution and reseller relationships... After this date, all base packages and add-on books must be bought directly from Logos...

I don't know how this will affect publishers like Nelson, but it looks as if Logos is going to try the same route as Amazon is with the Kindle...
