Off to Pastor’s Conference

I am so looking forward to this. Back in 1992 my pastor at the time Michael Haury was doing his best to help me begin my calling as a pastor; and one of the first things he did was to insist that I attend the Moody Pastor’s conference with him. No, it’s not about pastors with mood swings 🙂 The MBI pastor’s conference is filled with worship and the word of God. The Lord has been very gracious to me through this conference and I’ve only missed a couple of those conferences since then.
This year’s conference starts tonight at 7pm and I’m just about ready to jump in the car and commence driving to Chicago. Every year I build up my hopes about the conference and look forward to having a great time of worship as well as receiving some really solid teaching. I also look forward to the fellowship of meeting with old friends not to mention dozens of fellow Moody alumni. But it’s the worship and the teaching that brings me back year after year.
Imagine an auditorium filled with over a thousand pastors raising their voices in worship and earnestly seeking God in prayer. And when the word is opened, every pastor is busy listening and learning.
Every year I try to push my hopes back down thinking, “There’s no way the conference can live up to my expectations” – and I’m always wrong.
Well it’s time to go. I’ll hope to blog about the conference as I go along but for now it’s time for me to jump in the car and go.
If you’re going to the conference let’s arrange a meeting.
